UMass Lowell Literacy Buddy Project

A Lively Learning Experience

Started in 2012, students are partnered with 2nd and 3rd graders from Bartlett Community Partnership School in Lowell, Massachusetts to help them with their literacy skills. Each set of Literacy Buddy partners works on a multi-stage creative literacy project and then showcase these projects at a final celebratory event on UMass Lowell’s campus. This program runs in both our College Writing I and College Writing II courses.
